Michael Shynkaryk
I am a Ski-Touring, Heli-Ski and Cat Ski guide working for a variety of backcountry Ski Touring, Heli-Ski and Cat-Ski Companies, in Canada and New Zealand. I guide because I want to share the experience and joy of skiing/snowboarding in the backcountry with you and it brings fulfilment to my work and life. From the first timers just starting their skiing journey to the hard charging veterans, I want all my guests to experience the same joys of skiing/snowboarding I do.
I have 25 years working experience in the ski industry in various roles from Ski Instructor, Ski Patrol, Ski School Supervisor, Avalanche Research Technician and finally Ski Guide. While I'm not spending time in the mountains, I'm working for a geotechnical & geohazards engineering company, as Geological/Geotechnical Engineer, P.Eng. I completed my Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree in Geological Engineering at University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
My Guiding philosophy is built on four principles: safe travel through the mountains; building long lasting relationships with clients, friends, family, and industry partners; continual professional development and skills training, and offering you a ski/snowboard experience that you have dreamed about.
ACMG TAP program and mentors believe my strengths are “Ski skills and an advanced risk assessment process. Analytical thinking is advanced and aids Michael well in his decision making.” ACMG Coast SG Exam 2021.
Life is an Adventure. Let Adventure Guide you.
Please contact me if you want to go for a ski/snowboard.
